Slay the Spire Organizer

I already own several inserts from Laserox and have always been very happy with them. Unfortunately, this one is now going straight into my oven to become a ridiculously overpriced piece of firewood.

Why?

I sleeve my cards, and I expect an insert to accommodate sleeved cards, especially when it is specifically designed for a card game. Unfortunately, this insert doesn’t properly fit sleeved cards. You can force them into the trays, but doing so risks damaging the cards.

To make matters worse, some of the components are slightly too large for the game box, meaning they can damage the box itself as well.

The engravings are also nowhere near the quality I’ve come to expect from Laserox. Some are even missing entirely. Guys, if you’ve engraved the components on board A (A1), why aren’t the same engravings present on B3? The components are identical (see picture), so this inconsistency makes absolutely no sense.

And if you own the Deluxe Edition, don’t even consider buying this insert.

The Deluxe Edition box is too tall for the insert, leaving the tokens free to scatter around inside because the corresponding tray has no lid.

The metal coins don’t fit properly either — neither in the designated tray nor in the saving box.

At SPIEL, I was explicitly told that this insert was compatible with the Deluxe Edition which is why I bought it. It isn’t.

I’m genuinely disappointed. I’ve come to expect much better quality and attention to detail from Laserox, especially at this price point. This insert fails at the most basic things an organizer is supposed to do: protect the components, keep everything securely in place, and fit properly inside the game box.

Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this insert at all, particularly not for owners of the Deluxe Edition.

I bought the insert on a fair, thought it would make me happy, but it is struggling.

first of all, the act-trays scratch the inside of the box, because they are a little oversized. then, if you sleeve the cards how it is intended by the game, you ll have little joy fitting them in. especially the characterboxes are too tight. and one open tray will even spill cards from the stack.

if you are about to sleeve all cards, unlockable cards wont fit in their tray at all and the tiny cards neither.

combining this insert with collectors edition, it will have lots of room in the headspace. it fits the mats and this would be fine, but becomes very problematic with the open loose tray on top containing all the tokens. also Metal Coins wont fit in their tray.

if you use the saving mechanic of this insert, dont put metal coins and cards in together in the boxes - the cards will get damaged! you will need the cardboard-coins for this, so keep those!

laserox really has great inserts, but sadly this aint one of them. all of those things could have been fixed easily and i d be happy, but they arent so i m not.i use the original insert again.

The original Slay the Spire sleeves are terrible and need to be replaced ASAP with better quality sleeves as they split after even just a couple of plays, so the natural best option for upgrading would be Dragon shields, however, the character boxes in this insert are too tight and clearly not designed to fit Dragon Shields ! You can squeeze them in, but it is a VERY tight fight and you will be damaging/crushing your Dragon Shield sleeve edges over time...extremely disappointing.

Even though I have the Collector's Edition, I thought I could make it work... nope. The insert is too small to handle the Metal Coins and Keys for example.

The other negative aspect is that it doesn't handle sleeved cards well. I'm using Dragon Shields for the main cards and the Inserts are too tight. If you sleeve the Large Cards, they won't fit in the Insert at all.

character trays are way too tight. barely fit sleeved cards and impossible to take them out. you will have to sand a lot to make them usable
